Do you think this is something you would adopt for personal use?

Not ATM...I can see why and how some would use it but I don't have an iPhone, or an unlimited media pkg on my phone, or enough hours in the day to keep up with what I have now.

Is there a particular topic you'd like to tweet about?

Hrmmm... What were the results?

Again, I found the links to blogs, articles, and websites interesting. Did a search for "diabetes". (not surprised are you...) While I the only book club that I have been a member of is the Summer Reading Club I have used several sites to read reviews on books. Since I haven't ever been to one in person I am not sure but I think it would be interesting. However, in this day and age online would be much more practical since more people are able to access a site at any given time and from anywhere versus the time & location restraints of a book club in person.

2. I think it would be interesting to have a book club for children's books read by adults. Either with parents discussing what they like or don't like to read to their kids (there are several homeschooling parents that are always looking for resources or with adults who read young adult or juvenile literature for leisure reading. The Twilight Series would probably get a wide variety of response.

3. I searched for Janette Oke's Animal Friends. It god 4 1/2 & 5 stars on Shelfari with no reviews. I tried searching on Library Thing and couldn't find it. Finally found it on Good Reads with one review of 3 stars. Guess I should have used a more popular book title!

(By the way the post for #52 is under the facebook post. And being familiar with them makes us more knowledgeable for our customers. I checked out an ebook several years ago from another site while I was doing research for school. It was great to look up what I needed to find without ever having to leave home or even hold the book. But after trying to download an ebook here I became frustrated. I'm sure it's a great technology for our customers but it is hard to know that while doing a work training on a work computer that will not let you actually have that experience. I even tried using a staff member's person laptop and got the same answer. A little frustrated about this part of the training...

Pot Luck #55: Getting the Most Out of Facebook

Am Signed up for Facebook.

Have several friends (and family).

Certainly needed to tidy up my applications. Write a blog post describing your experience. Which one fits your learning style? Is there a language you’re inspired to learn? How could you use this information at work?

I find the concept of these websites fascinating! Having taken 2 years of Spanish in high school I am not a complete beginner to the language. But I frequently find myself unsure when placed in a situation of needing to speak it. The Houston area is a melting pot of culture. And while it is impossible to learn and understand all of the languages, being knowledgeable in Spanish does come in handy when dealing with the public.

After visiting http://www.livemocha.com/ I found it rather helpful. It did seem to be pushing you to interact with the forums bu the lessons themselves were helpful. I found myself being further along in my understanding than I thought. And having a visual to accompany the sound seems to be a earning style that works best for me.

And I do agree with the staff member that said that http://mangolanguages.com/ took things to a much too simple method. At least for those with some basic knowledge. However I liked the color coded words and how they visually correlated with the translated word. I think that going from English to any other language we often look for those direct correlations despite the fact that other languages are worded differently.

These types of tools will certainly be helpful in improving my confidence with speaking Spanish. But it's a secret no more -- in fact, it's a tourist attraction. Parts of the plant are now open for visitors to explore on a 2.5-hour guided tour. But there's a catch -- the visitors must be American citizens. The Oak Ridge facility is the site of the world's first fully-operational nuclear reactor, and oversaw the separation of uranium 235 from natural uranium. It was also a key part of the project that instrumented the dropping of the atomic bombs over Hiroshima. The lives of those who lived and worked in Oak Ridge were closely intertwined with this secretive operation, so closely guarded that the word uranium was rarely used -- tuballoy was a common stand-in. www.oakridgevisitor.composted by martha Edwards of www.gadling.com" -Interesting since my grandfather worked here as a boy. Take a look at the consumer sites listed above. Search for a couple of items of interest and see what the selling pages look like. Write in your blog what your thoughts are these sites. Which one(s) do you like the best/least? Have you already used one of the sites to buy or sell an item? What was your experience like? If you haven’t could you see yourself using these sites to buy or sell something?

I have bought a few things off of Ebay, but only small price items and only from sellers with good ratings. I only use paypal as a payment method. I haven't really found time to try again. I like the fact that with these sites you can find that one replacement item for something that you have lost or broken. And I have at least looked at the other sellers on Amazon.

2. Knowing who had what allows you to be an advocate for your own health as well as allowing your doctors a history to take into consideration for your health.

Wellness #41

Act #41 Pt # 1

Activity # 1: Use one of more of the websites to determine your carbon footprint. Write some notes in your blog about your results.

As usual you learn by doing with these quizzes. Some of it is frustrating. Like I would shop at more markets and local shops if they existed. Living in this region it is so hard to do that. You literally have to go out of your way to purchase things in this manner. And that defeats the purpose of saving gas. *rolling my eyes*

I know that we do some. We recycle paper & some plastics. I use very few plastic bags. Except at JCPenny's where they refuse to NOT put my purchase in a plastic bag. (But clothes are hard to find so I will keep shopping there.) Our trash quantity has decreased tons since we started doing these things. I know that makes a difference but in the big *carbon footprint* view it makes very little.

So the quiz was interesting. We were below the nation average despite the fact that we live where we do. Except for food. *ugh* But you already knew that if you saw my previous posts!

Learning more everyday...

Activity # 2: If you have ever visited a local farmer's market, blog about the experience and what foods you found there. If you haven't, select one for a future visit from the websites above, and blog about why you chose that one to visit.

OK so check out my previous posts, again. It all comes back to food doesn't it. *arg*

I have visited a few farmer's markets on our way to visit Ben's grandma in the *country.* i.e. China, TX. And the results were disappointing. While we did get good deals on a few in season items most items weren't worth the cost to buy a whole basket of one food. It would be wasteful. And a lot of the items imported from Mexico on the exact same trucks that stock our grocery stores. So where's the *green* in that!?

Act #41 Part #2

Activity 3: From any of the other sites above, list one activity in your blog that you think would be quite easy to do to live a greener lifestyle. List a second that would take more commitment, but that you really would like to try.

Signing up for do not send junk mail lists and minimizing catalogs is quite simply the easiest way to cut waste. Seriously, it makes such a difference.

I like the concept of making your own household cleaners. That might be intersting to look into. Probably take a little more planning and organizing as far as usage and storage. But we often use the more basic type cleaning products because Ben is allergic to some of the chemicals in many of them. So that might be a can do...

# 40 Fitness

Take a look at the fitness calculators on ExRx.net.
1. Ack! I know my BMI isn't good. Thanks for affirming it. This calculator was the first to actually put me as being obese. Errr...

2. Write a blog post about your goals after finding out your results.
Again I'm not totally sure what my health age is suppose to be...I feel like I will have longevity despite the diabetes. The questionnaire did make me more aware of some things that will make an effect on my quality of life. Again mobility is the key. On a baking sheet, toss the peppers, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, and onions with olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and dried herbs. Roast until tender, about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the pasta and cook for about 6 minutes. Since you will be cooking the pasta a second time in the oven, you want to make sure the inside is still hard. Drain in a colander. In a large bowl, toss the drained pasta with the roasted vegetables, marinara sauce, cheeses, peas, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Using a wooden spoon, gently mix, until all the pasta is coated with the sauce and the ingredients are combined. Pour the pasta into a greased 9 by 13-inch pan. Top with the remaining 1/3 cup Parmesan and butter pieces. Bake until top is golden and cheese melts, about 25 minutes. So it really makes enough for 8-10 as a side dish or 6-8 as a main course. I often add chicken or low fat sausage to make it a main course. To limit calories I use part skim mozzarella and reduced fat Parmesan cheese instead. The library system as an industry has to move forward in order to maintain existence. As society changes so must the providers that serve it. Most libraries have remained relatively static in form. With the rapidly changing absorption of information libraries have to reconsider the “who, when, where, how & whys”. The longer traditional systems hold on the old ways the faster they will approach extinction. And systems like us that try to maintain a facade of technological advancement are only being held back by bureaucracy and mandatory hosiery.

(#14) Tech-tech-Technorati !

So I did a little searching in the Advanced search page.
